Apex is correct. Buying a drink sure as hell doesn't mean you have money. It means you were big enough of a chump to fork over the dough for her. Make her earn it first. Getting women is more about standing out than fitting in. When girls ask me to buy them drinks I usually respond with "Only if you buy me one first" followed by a smile. Stand your ground and be confident without being an ass. If she has any actual interest rather than just trying to bum a drink I guarantee she will stay.Just be confident. Women love confidence. If later perhaps she has warmed up to you significantly, done something for you, invested time, etc. (a.k.a. actually earned a gift, as that is what a drink is, and you don't just give out random gifts to everyone) then I don't mind buying. Honestly this works 20 times better than buying her a drink. I know plenty of girls who go to the bar with no money specifically to get chumps to buy them drinks all night.

As a serious songwriting hobbyist, I've studied the music law as it pertains to songwriter royalties, artist royalties, etc. for several years. My findings can be summed up quite simply... the record companies and the RIAA are WAY out of control. Right now, I get great enjoyment out of playing and singing the songs I write (as do others I pay them for), but I'm afraid selling my material will damage my passion for songwriting. Not to say I won't, but I haven't submitted anything I've written over the past 5 years to anyone so far. If I were to pursue it further, my mission would be to bring that enjoyment to others. Making a modest supplemental income to my main job would be a motivator as well, but a distant second to the true spirit of music... creativity and sharing. Given the current music licensing trend, we'll have to figure out who invented music. Then, all royalties will go to the heirs of his estate! Somebody's going to be REALLY rich!!
