I agree with all your post but I'll repost something I wrote a while back about Brown apparently not being elected.----Gordon Brown is an elected leader for the simple reason that in the UK we don't vote for the Prime Minister but the candidate in your specific constituency. For a party to replace a PM all it needs is a majority in Commons - it is in no way a requirement for a general election to be held in order to 'elect' a new Prime Minister.We had 'unelected' leaders in 1916, 1940, 1957, 1963, 1976 and 1990. Stop using the 'unelected' excuse to bash Gordon Brown because it doesn't hold up against any kind of scrutiny, there's a lot of things to attack him for but this just diminishes the argument.

I don't see what the big deal is anyway. No one is stopping homosexuals anywhere from living together and referring to themselves as married. The law will catch up eventually, but there are no huge benefits to the piece of paper when marriage is more about a commitment between two people. Depending on their situation they might pay slightly less in taxes, or more.
