That's pretty stupid to think the president influences gas prices in certain areas. Gas is cheaper in Texas because *gasp* they have oil refineries there.

From what I've read, it's always been screwed up. Within the last few decades of evolving technology, information has found ways to spread to the masses at incredibly fast rates... rates so fast that we can often times watch the event unfold live on television and the internet. This gives the impression that things are getting worse every year that communication technology evolves.

This was a terrific column, making a lot of sense, but I agree that the citation of the Gallup poll was misleading. Polls can be interpreted in many ways, depending on how questions are asked. Do conservatives outnumber liberals by a 2-1 margin? Doubtful. America is a centrist country. The great battle in any election is the 15 percent or so that swings one way or the other.
